• In front of Knole house- some of the dance scenes.
• Far from Knole house but with the house in the background -photoshoot style shots (lots of close ups).

REASONING FOR THESE LOCATIONS.

Knole park is an area with a range of different forest areas and the house itself, which fits with the historical style of parts of the video. The primary school is a good location as I have unlimited access during the summer due to my dads job but it is also malleable so I can make it look like the blank rooms that are often used in music videos.

STORY PLAN.

Pop music video story plan.

• Starting shot is a close up of table ornaments that pans out to the scene of the two girls sitting and looking formal in historical looking outfits. One of the girls is white and the other is from an ethnic minority which can be used as one of my representations.
• Then a shot of the artists name and brand icon fading in and out.
• The scene then changes to the performative element of one of the dance routines. Durning this it reveals that the girls are romantically interested in each other but are confined by traditional values. This is an example of another representation that can be used.
• Close up shot of them looking at each other as they dance.
• Then switch to a modern looking set with dancers which start slow then speed up.-Coloured lights+editing effects.
• Same girls are shown but in modern clothing and dance together without restraint.
• Slowly the historical and modern dances combine to be all modern and shows the girls happy.
• Slow motion shots of ornaments being smashed are symbolic of the rejection of tradition and societal standards.
• Ends with them dancing together happily and with the spinning close up shots of their faces like the diagram I drew for the original images.
• This will end at 3 minutes and after I will put credits in that won't be marked as the person doing the choreography and the dancers would like to be credited.

STATEMENT OF INTENT.

Statement of intent.

In my pop music video I will be using the song everyone you know- she don't dance where I have changed the band name to Clique to appeal to my audience. I will be making this for a "townie" audience of 16-25 as it is a mass market demographic and therefore applies to the pop brief . To create a music video that not only is enjoyable but also advertises the artist I will be creating a unique video style that doesn't venture into the alternative. To do this I will be using costume and mise en scene to portray a storyline and message that the audience will understand.

I have decided to not include the artist in the music video but to till have performative elements by having the characters dance instead. This means that more time can be spent on conveying the artists views and beliefs through narrative rather than their appearance. To also attract this audience I will be using actors from the same age category as they will be able to relate to them as young artists tend to get more recognition amongst young people eg. Billie Eilish who is universally recognised probably because of her age and relatability to those of the same age category. My lighting will be a mix of artificial lighting and natural to convey two different societal ideals. My main characters will also both be female as "townies" tend to be female.

They will stray from conventional standards by being homosexual which will also be one of my two representations. My video is also going to have a theme of umbrellas as shield and have the main message of rejection of tradition. The video will take inspiration from Maggie Lindemann's-friends go and will pay homage to Formation by Beyonce. To do this I will use inspiration of the costumes used in the video and use this to convey the message. To conform to the facts of pop music videos I will be using modern dance and a range of looks for the young people used. To create a unique video I will be using history inspired costume to portray a style for the artist. The cinematography that I will use will be a variety of shots especially wide shots and extreme close ups. There will also be moving shots to create an interesting dynamic.

For my intertextuality I have used a mix of the 'fault in or stars' film and the BBC series 'picnic on hanging rock'. I have done this because the fault in ours stars' audience is the townie group and picnic on hanging rock is a recent show set in the past but still has a diverse range of characters which I have tried to incorporate in my music video. I have kept my video diverse by having one of my main characters as white and the other being mixed race. The background characters are also diverse as over half aren't white with one English person, one mixed European, and one girl from Pakistan. one of my characters was a direct homage to the character Marion Quade as a person of colour who is also homosexual and is of Australian aborigines descent. I have used this reference also because she links with my music videos' theme of rejecting traditional values and ideas.

In my website I have included pictures taken on the day of shooting to link it to the video with the background being the same as the beginning and end of the video. The base of my website is inspired by a mix of Ariana Grande's and Bille Eilish's website with the format of a picture with the tour dates underneath resembling Billie's and the colour palette being similar to Grande's with a pink tone and granulated pictures. I have made the website look more similar to the old fashioned section of my video as this was more aesthetic and memorable.

How am I going to attract them?
-By featuring the stereotypical features of pop music videos whilst still using new techniques and styles. I will do this by using interesting shots and mise en scene as they are key features of conventional music videos.

EXPLANATION OF MOOD BOARD.

I have used these images in my mood board because they are mostly taken from pop music videos and clearly represent the acts of this genre.

MAKEUP.

The images that I have used for the makeup is representative of current popular fashions and styles of makeup. There is a strong emphasis on perfection but it does venture into alternative styles which are becoming very popular in common modern culture.

COSTUME.

The costumes that are featured in many music videos either reflect the common social media trends or are a high fashion replication of historical looks. common social media trends include baggy cargo trousers and a small cropped top. historical looks often look very expensive and often are featured to contract political views at the time such as on my mood board artist Beyonce is wearing what high class women would have worn during the time of slavery displaying a clear political view which is shared by her audience.

LOCATION.

The locations used in pop music videos often reflect the wealth of the artist by involving cars or other expensive items. The backgrounds are easy to look at and are aesthetically pleasing. The colour scheme is often overly colourful or dulled down when the video has a serious message.

DANCING/PERFORMANCE.

The dancing and performance in pop music videos is often very similar even when the artists are very different. There is often a group of women doing a synchronised routine with popular dance moves for the time and in some there are classical dance examples such as chair routines and small ballet segments.

LIGHTING/EDITING.

The lighting is often soft artificial lighting which can range in colours. there is also many examples of night time filming where they have lighting from behind the camera and dim background lighting. Coloured lighting creates an artificial effect which is much desired in many music videos. When the video is calm or soft they prefer to use natural lighting to make the subject mire serious.

Why I had chosen this track:
I have chosen this band because not only are they british but they also have a genre of pop music that is very common at the moment as its becoming more and more connected to alternative music. It has a pop music sound that verges on the classic indie sound which is starting to show in modern pop.

-Noted for his inventive style and distinctive manipulation of mine en scene.
-He won an award in 2004 for the film Eternal sunshine of a spotless mind.

He directed the Chemical Brothers' let forever be in 2009 and the White Stripes' hardest button to button which both involve repeating images. In let forever be he has used seamless transitions and image manipulation to create confusion for the audience.

He has also pioneered the "bullet time"technique which was later adapted in the film the Matrix.
He also plays with frames of reference and in the Chemical Brothers' star guitar video he used one continuous shot.

In the film Eternal sunshine of a spotless mind, his techniques are shown in a dream sequence scene as he plays with the size of the characters and demonstrates his smooth transitions and image manipulation.
